The Central Fallas Board on 2 December approved the official programme of events for Valencia’s main festival. We’re publishing the full schedule.

What you need to know, in brief:

From 1 to 19 March, daytime pyrotechnic shows and fireworks take place every day.

15 and 16 March — in every neighbourhood of Valencia, the figures begin to be installed in the streets. This is the best time to walk around the city and take photos.

17 and 18 March — thousands of residents of Valencia will walk through the streets in traditional hand-embroidered costumes to lay flowers at Plaza de la Virgen. It’s a spectacular event we recommend visiting. The large figure of the Virgin Mary will be gradually decorated with fresh flowers.

19 March — the finale of the festival and the most important, spectacular day of Fallas, when all the figures (more than 700!) are burned, except those that residents vote to save.
