Demand for pet-friendly travel is soaring every year, leading to a welcome increase in dedicated dog beaches across Spain. However, before you pack the leash and tennis balls, it is essential to check the rules—some spots only open their shores to canines during specific summer months or within strictly marked boundaries. La Cotorra brings you the ultimate guide to enjoying the Mediterranean Sea with your pup in the Valencia province.
Located in the vibrant area of Port Saplaya in the Alboraya municipality, this dedicated zone offers a great coastal escape just north of the city limit.
Perched on the southern edge of Valencia near the Albufera Natural Park, this is one of the most famous and highly trafficked pet zones in the region due to its close proximity to the city center.
If you prefer a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere north of the city, look no further than Torreta Beach (also known as Santa Elvira) in the municipality of El Puig.

To ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all beachgoers, all three municipal sites strictly enforce the following pet regulations:
Health & ID: Your dog must be microchipped, fully up-to-date on all mandatory vaccinations, and accompanied by their official health registry or veterinary passport.
Control & Cleanup: Owners are legally required to clean up after their pets immediately and must keep them under close visual supervision at all times.
PPP Breeds: Dogs classified under the Potentially Dangerous Breeds (PPP) list must remain securely muzzled, kept on a leash shorter than two meters, and the owner must carry a valid handling license.
Looking to venture beyond the borders of Valencia for some world-class coastal beauty? La Cotorra has handpicked the best beaches in Spain—offering vast, pristine stretches of fine sand and breathtaking views of both the Atlantic and the Mediterranean.
