Every summer the municipality of Ademuz, in the north of the Valencian Community, is transformed thanks to the blooming of its lavender fields, and it holds a so-called "Lavender Month" with tours of the flowering fields, a themed market, and gastronomic events.
The main event of the programme is the Mercado de la Lavanda, which runs from 3 to 5 July. On these days, market stalls will open in Ademuz with craft items, local produce, gastronomic offerings, and products made from lavender. The organisers promise concerts, performances, workshops, cookery demonstrations, and other activities related to the blooming and the local heritage. The full programme will be announced later. You can follow updates via this link.
In addition, Entre Campos de Lavandas tours to the flowering fields will be organised. The route lasts about an hour and a half and covers around three kilometres among Ademuz's most picturesque lavender fields. A guide talks about the characteristics of the plant and its significance for the region. The tour ends with a tasting of organic essential oils on the Ecoaromuz grounds and a small gift to remember it by.
This year's tour dates are: 27–28 June, 2–5 July, 9–12 July, and 16–19 July. The times are mainly 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM, with additional slots added on certain days. Places are limited and booking is already open. You can sign up on the website. The cost of participation per person is €12.
The tour organisers remind visitors that the lavender fields are private property and independent access is prohibited.
Recommendations for participants: closed shoes are essential; flip-flops and heels are not allowed. You need to bring water, a hat, and sun cream. Participants must have their own transport for the journey from the meeting point to the plantations. Those allergic to bees should carry emergency medication with them. The route is not adapted for wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, or pushchairs.
Children under 12 take part free of charge — this must be indicated when booking. The group sets off for the plantations 15 minutes before the appointed time, so you need to arrive at the meeting point in advance. The exact meeting place is communicated by email after the booking is confirmed.
The programme will be complemented by traditional gastronomic days — participating restaurants will offer special menus featuring lavender. The list of venues and the menus will be announced later, along with the rest of the programme.
