The first sketches for Valencia's Fallas 2027 have been unveiled. The main municipal falla on the Plaza del Ayuntamiento will be adorned with a monumental figure of Nino Bravo, 20 metres high and 15 metres wide, created by the Baena Tandem artistic society to a design by José Luis Santos. The work's slogan is "Vuelvo a mi tierra" ("I return to my land"). The presentation took place on Thursday 11 June at the Els Tallers space of the Fallas Artists' Guild.
The figure depicts the Valencian singer Nino Bravo — in a polo-neck, with a fang pendant, a rose in his hand, and a lipstick mark on his cheek, a nod to his famous song Un beso y una flor ("A Kiss and a Flower").
Beyond the visual image, the falla invites viewers to trace society's transformation over the past 50 years — the evolution of transport, computing, mobile phones, audiovisual media, and social networks. The idea is that what is gone does not disappear entirely but remains in the collective memory. This approach combines nostalgia, humour, and a critical perspective.
The structure will be made from eco-friendly materials — wood, cardboard, recycled paper, grain-flour-based glue, cork from organic waste, and plant-based paints produced using renewable energy.
The children's falla by Ceballos & Sanabria, titled El tiempo de Fallas, presents time as the main protagonist of the composition. It includes both the events of Fallas week — including the Crida (opening ceremony), the Plantà (the raising of the falla monument), the Mascletà (fireworks), the Ofrenda (offering of flowers), the parades, and the Cremà (burning of the falla monument) — and everyday moments.
The composition is structured as a visual diary, where each scene represents a moment in the Fallas cycle, uniting play, memory, and tradition into a continuous narrative.
