The Valencian Community's international film festival Cinema Jove, organised by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities together with the Valencian Institute of Culture, will take place for the 41st time from 19 to 27 June. On the one hand, the festival remains a showcase for international cinema by filmmakers under 40, and on the other, a platform for producers, distributors, and content creators.

This year's main innovation is the Cinema Jove Meets programme, which will take place on 21 and 25 June at the Teatre Principal de Valencia. Here, participants and members of the juries of the official feature-film, short-film, and series sections and the Youth Audiovisual Meeting will come together, along with representatives of Valencian audiovisual centres, professional associations, and invited industry experts.

On 20 June, Afghan director Shahrbanoo Sadat and producer Marina Perales will discuss filmmaking under conditions of structural inequality, using the film No Good Men as an example.

On 21 June there will be a round table, "Creators of Movement. Women Who Draw the World," organised together with Prime the Animation!, the FAN network, and MIA — after a screening of international short films made by women, the participants will discuss the presence of women in animation and the industry.

On 23 June, the programme director of the Estonian festival PÖFF Shorts, Laurence Boyce, and French producer Amélie Quéret will discuss the criteria for selecting short films and strategies for successful participation in the international festival circuit. On the same day there will be a presentation of the book containing the scripts of the first season of the series La Ruta, published by Setenta Teclas and DAMA. Taking part in the event will be the series' creators, Roberto Martín Maiztegui and Borja Soler, as well as scriptwriter Gabi Ochoa.

On 24 June, Ka Ki Wong, Elizabeth Fang, and William Wrubel will talk about new ways of portraying young people in contemporary cinema.

On 25 June, Frédéric Boyer, Maria Ekerhovd, and Isabel Ivars will discuss the complete journey of a film — from production to international distribution.

On 26 June, the study "Spanish Short Film in 50 Figures" by the Coordinadora del Cortometraje Español will be presented for the first time at Cinema Jove.

The official series section will hold three round tables on international co-productions, the use of artificial intelligence in content creation, and new narrative formats. Among the participants are representatives of the German television channel ZDF and the Australian production company Easy Tiger.

Centre del Carme — free screenings and a Greta Gerwig retrospective

The Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània will once again be the venue for the festival's free screenings in the centre of Valencia. This year it will host a retrospective dedicated to Greta Gerwig — one of the most notable contemporary directors — including key works from her filmography. Entry to the screenings is free, but by ticket, which can be obtained here.

The full programme and tickets for all the festival's films are available on the official website cinemajove.com.
