A gala ceremony for the Soles Repsol 2026 gastronomic awards has taken place in Tarragona. This is one of Spain’s most prestigious awards in gastronomy, often described as an equivalent to the Michelin Guide. This year, the Repsol Guide added 83 new restaurants, bringing the total number of awarded venues across Spain to 808.
The top distinction, Three Suns, was awarded to A Tafona in Santiago de Compostela, Ramón Freixa Atelier in Madrid and Voro in Mallorca. According to Repsol’s criteria, restaurants at this level offer a “truly exceptional experience in every sense and coming close to perfection”.
The guide highlights Madrid’s Ramón Freixa Atelier, an intimate restaurant with just ten seats, as a place that “aims to deliver an unforgettable experience in an exclusive setting”. The restaurant not only retained its two Michelin stars after relocating but also confirmed its status as one of the finest dining destinations in the country.
Elsewhere in Madrid, Bascoat and Smoked Room received the Two Suns award. One Sun went to Bancal, Desborre, EMi, Los 33, Otoro Jukusei, Ramón Freixa Tradición and Trèsde.
Repsol awards Two Suns to restaurants with a strong, well-developed concept and a distinct culinary identity that continues to evolve. A single Sun is given to restaurants “worth a detour”, offering honest, consistent cooking, attentive service and high-quality ingredients.
In the province of Valencia, four restaurants were recognised this year. Fierro, run by chefs Germán Carrizo and Carito Lourenço, received Two Suns for its blend of Argentine traditions and Valencian produce; the restaurant already holds a Michelin star. One Sun was awarded to:
• Farigola y Menta in Torrent, offering a set lunch menu priced at €30.90
• Simposio in San Antonio de Benagéber, opened in 2022 by chef Roger Julián and is also a Michelin-starred restaurant
• 2 Estaciones in Valencia, a project by Alberto Alonso and Mar Soler
In Barcelona, the only restaurant to receive Two Suns was Dos Palillos, the venue created by Albert Raurich (formerly of elBulli) and Tamae Imachi, known for dishes inspired by Japan, China and Southeast Asia.
In addition, four restaurants in the province of Barcelona were awarded One Sun:
• Amar Barcelona, specialising in seafood and fish
• Besta, focused on Galician cuisine
• Eldelmar, with a menu centred on seafood and rice dishes
• Prodigi, offering modern Catalan cuisine and considered one of the city’s most affordable Michelin-starred restaurants
Catalonia as a whole remains the region with the highest number of Repsol-recognised restaurants in Spain.
