Spanish retail chain El Corte Inglés has announced a 90-day price freeze on 300 essential food products. The freeze applies to Supermercados El Corte Inglés, Hipercor, and Supercor. According to the company, the goal is to offer customers "greater stability and transparency."
The list includes fruit and vegetables, meat, fish, dairy products, and oil — both under the store's own label and from well-known brands. More than 60 items on the list fall into the fresh produce category.
Products participating in the initiative will be marked with special colour-coded labels in stores — green in Supermercados El Corte Inglés, blue in Hipercor, and red in Supercor. After 90 days, the list of price-frozen products will be updated. The company emphasised that the initiative is "designed to run long-term." It will run alongside the chain's existing discounts and promotions.
La Cotorra has previously reviewed Spanish supermarkets and grouped them into three segments — budget, mid-range, and premium. Find out where to shop for the best prices in Spain in our article.
