The bar Casa Marina from the Valencian village of Benifairó de la Valldigna has taken first place in the Valencian Community at the 2026 Spanish Bocadillo Championship.
The winning Bocata de la Valldigna is made with fried figatells and botifarrons (Catalan-style sausages), caramelised onion, melted cheese, and truffle mayonnaise. Casa Marina, home of the best bocadillo, offers a fixed-price lunch menu at €9, with a special version available at €10.
Second place went to La Mesedora with its El Panxeta sandwich; third place to the restaurant Cal Carrero with El Potro de Cal Carrero.
Casa Marina is known locally for its hearty breakfasts and traditional cremaet (a Valencian coffee drink with rum, cinnamon, sugar, and lemon). The bar is located on Avenida La Valldigna and is open Monday to Saturday from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
The bocadillo is considered the king of the Spanish and Latin American second breakfast (almuerzo). Every province — and every bar in Spain — has its own combination of ingredients to deliver "the right flavour," but some bocadillos have long since become classics.
