Wikipedia Launched a Free Streaming Platform — and It's Available in Spain Right Now

Wikipedia has launched its own streaming platform, WikiFlix, where you can watch more than 4,000 films and series for free and legally. The platform has been running since 2024 and is now available in Spain with no registration and no payment — simply visit the website.

All content on WikiFlix is in the public domain, meaning copyright has expired. The platform draws material from the Wikidata database, YouTube, and other open repositories. Like Wikipedia itself, WikiFlix is developed by its users, who can add content and even initiate the restoration of lower-quality material. Content that does not meet the platform's standards is removed by moderators.

Among the most popular films are Battleship Potemkin, Metropolis, Nosferatu, All Quiet on the Western Front, and Charlie Chaplin classics — The Gold Rush and The Kid. There is also more recent content: short films and features whose creators have voluntarily placed them in the public domain, including several works from 2025.

The platform contains 421 sections — ranging from "films directed by women" to "most popular." A dedicated section is devoted to Spanish cinema.
