On 8 March, Valencia will mark International Women’s Day with a packed city-wide programme under the slogan Con ellas, Valencia suena mejor (“With them, Valencia sounds better”). Concerts, festivals, film screenings, family shows, and sporting events are all on the agenda. At 7 pm on 8 March, the Town Hall façade, Porta de la Mar, fountains and monuments across the city will be lit up in purple — one of the best-known symbols of solidarity on the day dedicated to women’s rights.
