Valencia is to get a new play space in the Turia Gardens. The city council has presented the El Lilliput de Gulliver project — a themed children's park to be located on sections 4 and 5 of the Turia Gardens, between the Puente de les Arts and the Puente de les Glòries Valencianes. The opening is planned for early 2027.
The central element of the park will be an 8.3-metre figure of Gulliver made of durable fibreglass, designed to be played on. The structure will include built-in slides, internal tunnels, climbing nets, elevated walkways, and routes for children.
The park will cover 6,700 square metres, of which 2,300 are set aside for the play area. The park will be fenced, lit, and closed at night. The expected capacity is around 250 people.
The funding and construction of the park are being taken on by the Valencian Institute of Oncology (IVO) as part of an agreement on the expansion of its clinic. Once construction is complete, the park will pass into the management of the city council. The total investment is €1.5 million.
The new park is conceived as a continuation of the existing Gulliver park in section 12 of the Turia Gardens — one of the main symbols of family recreation in Valencia, with its reclining figure more than 70 metres long. In time, "Gulliver's Ship" will be added to them in the Parque de Desembocadura (River Mouth Park).
