On 20 May, registration opened in Valencia for candidates for the title of Fallera Major 2027. The Junta Central Fallera unanimously approved the regulations for the new election.
Registration runs until 15 June. Candidates must meet the principal requirement of having been a member of their falla (an association of residents from one or several streets that takes part in the festival as a separate group) for at least two years, including the previous and current seasons. They must also have no disciplinary sanctions or ongoing investigations by the Delegación de Incidencias de la Junta Central Fallera. Most of the candidates in the 2027 selection will be the Fallera Major elected by each falla in the previous year.
The key new development this year is a tightening of requirements for jury members in the final stage. They are now required to sign a sworn statement guaranteeing the absence of any disqualifying relationships with candidates, and all their interactions with candidates will be recorded and monitored.
Qualifying rounds will take place at the Pabellón Norte on 26, 27, and 28 June, and on 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 17, and 18 July. On these same dates, preliminary rounds may also be held at any venue convenient for each sector. Registration for participation in the preliminary jury selection also opens on 20 May.
After the summer qualifying rounds, the final phase will begin with 73 candidates in each category — adult and children's. The grand final will take place at the Roig Arena, where the 13 finalists will be announced. The announcement call to the winners (La Telefonada) will be made after the Valencian Community Day on 9 October.
