The Valencia city council has signed an agreement with Microsoft and the Founderz platform to create a free artificial intelligence course for all city residents. The course is open to anyone registered in Valencia, as well as to the more than 5,500 municipal employees. In terms of its reach, Valencia has become the first major Spanish regional capital to offer free access to this kind of training.

The agreement has been signed as part of Microsoft's global Elevate Skilling programme, which aims to train more than 20 million people worldwide. Spain is one of 21 participating countries, and among Spanish cities and regions taking part are Valencia, Zaragoza, Madrid, Galicia, Andalusia, and Aragón.

The course is made up of five modules: an introduction to generative AI with Microsoft Copilot, the basics of administering Microsoft 365 Copilot and AI agents, optimising workflows using generative AI and Microsoft Copilot, managing the rollout of generative AI within an organisation, and an introduction to AI on the Azure platform. On completing the course, participants will receive an official Microsoft certificate along with free access to the relevant exam.
