The authorities of the Valencian Community are introducing a benefit to support young people who live alone. The government is comprehensively overhauling the Renta Valenciana de Inclusión (RVI) — the regional benefit for low-income residents. The new rules will come into force at the end of October 2026, six months after their publication in the Official Gazette of the Valencian government.

Young people aged 23 to 30 can apply for the benefit for those living alone. An exception is made for people aged 18 to 22 who have lost their parents or were under the guardianship of the Valencian authorities. In addition, you must confirm that you have been living alone for at least two years before submitting your application. In all cases, applicants must not be employed at the time of application and must meet certain vulnerability or residency requirements.

The RVI is available not only to young people living alone but also to families who lack the money to meet their basic needs. The amount of the monthly payments depends on the household composition: 1 person — €793.80; 2 people — €929.88; 3 people — €1,020.60; and 6 or more people — up to €1,247.40.

The law combines all previous benefit formats into a single payment and removes the restrictions that previously prevented low-income workers from receiving it. The RVI is now compatible with unemployment benefit and assistance for victims of violence — these are counted as household income but do not disqualify recipients from the benefit.

The new law also provides an incentive to work. You can work and continue receiving the benefit for 12 months, with earnings of up to €200 a month, without reducing the payment in the first year.

A "supplement for children and adolescents" has also been introduced — €60 per month per child under 18, up to a maximum of €180 per family.

Payments can be received via prepaid cards, reducing the risk of delays caused by blocked bank accounts. Applications can be submitted online; more details are available here. The RVI is available to all residents of the Valencian Community, regardless of citizenship. The main condition is to be registered or actually resident in the Valencian Community for at least 12 consecutive months before applying, or for a total of at least 5 years within the last 10.
