The Valencia Fine Arts Museum has unveiled its program of temporary exhibitions for 2026. Throughout the year, visitors will be able to see four major exhibitions spanning from the late 16th century to the second half of the 20th century, featuring both Spanish and broader European art.
From March 10 to May 31, the museum will host the exhibition Modernity, offering a fresh look at Valencian painting from the 1940s to the 1970s. The show will feature around 50 works from the museum’s collection, including pieces by Eusebio Sempere, Juana Francés, and Manuel Hernández Mompó.
From June 18 to September 20, the museum will present the first monographic exhibition dedicated to Spanish Baroque painter Antonio Palomino. The exhibition will bring together paintings, drawings, engravings, and theoretical writings by the artist, whose work left a lasting mark on churches across Valencia.
Between July 2 and October 4, the museum will host Rubens: The Rise of a Genius, an exhibition exploring the early development of Peter Paul Rubens and the artistic milieu of early 17th-century Antwerp.
The program will conclude with Mary Magdalene: Saint and Sinner, on view from October 29, 2026, to February 14, 2027. Featuring around 70 works by Mediterranean Baroque artists, the exhibition will examine the dual nature of Mary Magdalene’s image in art.
