Teide National Park in Tenerife has been ranked tenth among the most popular national parks in the world on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The ranking was compiled by TUI Musement on the basis of Google review counts. The park received more than 39,000 ratings with an average score of 4.8 out of 5.
Teide was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007. It is Spain's highest peak and one of the largest volcanoes on the planet. The park is remarkable for the variety of its landscapes — lava fields, craters, and bizarrely shaped rock formations create a sense of an otherworldly terrain.
Trails are available for all fitness levels, and a cable car offers the chance to ascend to the summit, from which panoramic views extend across the Canary Archipelago and the Atlantic Ocean. Teide is also considered one of the world's finest locations for stargazing, thanks to the exceptional clarity of the air.
The ranking is topped by Plitvice Lakes in Croatia — more than 124,000 reviews and a score of 4.8. Second and third places go to the Argentine and Brazilian sections of Iguazú National Park, home to 275 waterfalls set in subtropical jungle. Fourth and fifth are the American parks of the Grand Canyon and Yosemite, followed by Great Smoky Mountains, Italy's Cinque Terre, Yellowstone in the United States, and the Lake District in the United Kingdom.
