The Spanish government is launching a new version of the Verano Joven 2026 programme. The initiative from the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility will allow young people to travel around the country this summer with large discounts on public transport. The programme runs from 1 July to 30 September 2026.

The programme is aimed at young people aged 18 to 30 — specifically, those born between 1 January 1996 and 31 December 2008. A mandatory condition is Spanish citizenship or legal residence in Spain.

A 90% discount applies to conventional and narrow-gauge medium-distance trains, as well as to conventional state buses, for both one-way journeys and return tickets. A 50% discount applies to Avant trains, high-speed and intercity trains of all operators (with a maximum discount of €30 per ticket), and to the 10-day, 2-month Interrail Global Flexible Pass.

How to register

To receive the discounts, prior registration on the Ministry of Transport's official platform is required — it will be available in the coming days via this link. After registering, you need to wait at least 24 hours, after which a personal discount code will arrive by email. This code will need to be entered when buying tickets on transport operators' websites.

The code cannot be passed on to others. Among the other restrictions is the purchase of more than one return journey per day on the same route with the same operator, if the previous journey has not been made or cancelled. Unused tickets must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance. If more than six violations accumulate, access to the programme may be blocked — before this, the user will receive a warning by SMS or email.
