On 19 May, the Catalan police (Mossos d'Esquadra) detained Jonathan Andic, son of Mango fashion brand founder Isak Andic, on suspicion of his father's murder. The detainee was brought before a court in Martorell, in the province of Barcelona, to give a statement.
Isak Andic died on 14 December 2024 during a hiking trip to the Salnitre caves on Montserrat. Jonathan claims his father fell from a drop of more than 100 metres while the two were walking together. From the outset, Andic's son insisted that his father's death was an accident and denied any involvement.
Police initially concluded that all the evidence pointed to an accident, and in January 2025, the case was closed for lack of evidence of a crime. However, the unusual circumstances — a fall on a low-difficulty route and the absence of any witnesses — led investigators to consider other possibilities. In March 2025, the case was reopened.
The General Directorate for Criminal Investigation took personal charge of the case. In October 2025, Jonathan Andic's status was changed from witness to suspect, which allowed investigators to access his mobile phone. Police identified contradictions in Jonathan's account, including in his answers about where he was standing when his father fell, where the car was parked, and whether he had taken photographs during the walk.
Jonathan Andic's former partner, professional golfer Estefanía Knut, told investigators about tension between father and son. Relatives and close friends also spoke of family conflicts.
