Singer Shakira has announced an unusual plan for the final leg of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour. The artist plans to conclude the tour with a series of concerts in Madrid, for which, according to her, a special stadium bearing her name will be built.
The Colombian star shared her plans in an interview on the RTVE program Al cielo con ella. According to Shakira, the show will be large-scale and unique. “It will be something incredible, a production unlike anything ever seen in Spain,” she said.
However, Madrid’s city council stated that they have no information about the construction of Shakira’s stadium. “We have no confirmation, news, or official information, but I know that in the coming days, possibly this week, you will receive official updates from the organisers,” said Borja Carabante, the city’s delegate for urban planning, environment, and mobility.
Shakira gave the interview in Mexico, where she recently set an attendance record, gathering more than 400,000 people at a free concert in Mexico City’s Zócalo Square.
If confirmed, these will be Shakira’s first concerts in Spain in nearly eight years. The last time she performed here was during the El Dorado World Tour in 2018, with shows in Barcelona, A Coruña, Barakaldo, and Madrid.
“Spain is a country that will always be dear to me. I will always keep it in my heart. I’m looking forward to singing again in Barcelona, the city where my children were born and which has given me so much. To return to Madrid and reunite with my Spanish fans. It will be a special and unforgettable event,” she said in an interview with GQ magazine in 2024.
