The Ruzafa district in Valencia is set to become a living cultural trail. From 5 to 7 June, it will host the latest edition of Russafart — the art biennale that for almost two decades has opened the district's workshops, studios, and galleries to the public.

This year the biennale takes place under the slogan "A Public Art Reserve," reflecting the stance of the organisers, who oppose the touristification and rising property prices in Ruzafa. Coordinators Arístides Rosell and Rebeca Catalá define art as "a critical tool, a form of resistance, and a possibility for the future."

Unlike conventional art fairs, Russafart offers the chance to see artists' real working spaces and to talk with the artists themselves. This year, more than 70 studios, galleries, cultural cafés, and hybrid spaces have been invited to take part.

Among the participants are the studios Taller Elena Martí, Hey Mrs Be Studio, Minami Studio, Valencia Print Work Shop, Curiosibot Lab, and Studio Picazo, the El Bajito ceramics workshop, the galleries Imprevisual Galería, Bloom Gallery, and FreeZia Concept, and the cultural spaces Ubik Café, Sala Russafa, Loom VLC, and Ediciones Contrabando.

Schedule

• 3 June at 8:30 PM at Ubik Café — a presentation and open meeting with the festival's artists and organisers.

• 5 June at 7:00 PM at the CCNAVE3 cultural centre at Naves Ribes del Parque Central — the official opening, with workshops opening simultaneously across the district.

• 6 June — the art spaces can be visited from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM.

• 7 June — from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Throughout the weekend, the Mahou beer trail is available, with participating bars, shops, and restaurants across the district. The closing event is on 7 June at 8:30 PM at the Sporting Club Russafa, with a performance by the band Perricolas.

Details can be found on the official website.
