One of Europe’s biggest amusement parks, PortAventura World, has announced the start date for its new season: 28 February. For the fourth consecutive year, the opening will be accompanied by Carnival shows, running from February 27 to March 22. PortAventura World is located in the Spanish city of Tarragona

This season, organisers have refreshed the concept of the park’s street performances. Instead of the classic Venetian and Brazilian motifs, the focus is on original shows inspired by the themed areas of PortAventura Park. The Carnival programme will feature five troupes from Tarragona — Pandora, Sinhus, Artifex, Colours Fantasy and Torres Jordi. More than 70 dancers will take to the park’s streets several times a day. New costumes, musical pieces and choreography have been created for the performances.

Performers will appear on the stages at Plaza Yucatán and Penitence Station. The programme will also include an orchestra, street actors, and family shows with bubbles. Organisers note that the format is designed for both families with children and fans of rides and active leisure.

PortAventura has also announced new opening hours. The park will be open to all visitors at weekends from 10:30 to 18:00. On Fridays, the park is open from 16:00 to 21:00 for hotel guests and members of the +PortAventura Club.

Two new attractions are also set to arrive this summer. The first is “Jungle Macamanu: Adventure Trek” — an outdoor route with pathways and suspension bridges, adapted for visitors of all ages. The second attraction is “Coral Bay: The Lost Legend” — further details will be revealed later.

You can buy park tickets and book a hotel near PortAventura via the website.
