Playa de Muro in Mallorca has made it into TripAdvisor’s list of the best beaches in the world. It ranked 12th in the Traveller’s Choice Best of the Best 2026 list, which is based on travelers’ reviews and ratings from the past year.
Playa de Muro is located in the Bay of Alcúdia in northeastern Mallorca and is considered one of the island’s most popular beaches. TripAdvisor users highlight its more than six-kilometer-long shoreline, fine golden sand, and calm turquoise waters. Playa de Muro is especially well suited for families with children.
The beach is bordered by a pine forest and lies next to the S’Albufera Natural Park, making it attractive not only for swimming but also for nature walks. You can easily spend a whole day here—strolling along the sea, swimming in warm water, or doing water sports such as snorkeling and stand-up paddleboarding. The beach has showers, toilets, and free parking.
In addition, Playa de Maspalomas on the island of Gran Canaria also made the TripAdvisor ranking, placing 20th. Located in the south of Gran Canaria, the beach is known for its unique dunes, golden sand, and crystal-clear water, TripAdvisor notes. Visitors can spend the whole day swimming in the ocean and walking along the promenade lined with cafés, restaurants, and souvenir shops.
First place in the global ranking went to Isla Pasión in Mexico, while second and third places were taken by Elafonisi Beach and Balos Lagoon on the Greek island of Crete.
The world’s best beaches ranking is part of TripAdvisor’s annual Traveller’s Choice awards, compiled from millions of user reviews over the past 12 months. The Best of the Best category is considered the most prestigious and includes destinations that fall within the top 1% of all listings on the platform.
