The winner of the 6th Spanish Burger Championship has been crowned. The title goes to the "SaboRosa" burger from Bágoa Gastrobar in Ourense.
The winning burger features a brioche bun, smoked bacon jam, aged beef patty, onion, smoked cheese, and roasted garlic mayonnaise. However, as the establishment emphasises, the key to success lies not in complex combinations but in product quality and a well-thought-out concept. The creators drew inspiration from the gastronomic traditions of Galicia.
“A smoky touch reminiscent of the mountains, a delicate sauce that envelops without overpowering the flavour, a soft bun like long afternoon conversations… All of this is designed so that everyone who tastes this burger feels as if they are at a Galician table, hearing the sound of the Miño River or the words of a grandmother: ‘Eat up, son, you’ll love it,’” states the burger's description on the competition website.
This is not the first award for Bágoa Gastrobar. In 2024, the establishment earned the title of best "gourmet burger" in Spain at the Burger Combat competition, and in 2025, it won a tapas contest.
Notably, second place also went to Galicia. It was secured by the restaurant Flaco from Santiago de Compostela with its "Flaquita" burger, made from two Galician beef patties, American cheese, pickled cucumbers, onion, Flaco sauce, and a brioche bun.
Third place went to the "Umami Queen" burger from Soap Lounge in the Valencian town of Villar del Arzobispo. It consists of 30-day aged beef, a brioche bun, black garlic aioli, smoked cheese, wholegrain mustard, caramelised onion, and edible gold foil. “We chose 30-day aged light beef because it is the heart of the dish: a deep, rich flavour and juiciness that allows it to be paired with bold accompaniments without losing its own character,” the description notes.
