Renfe has published its monthly punctuality statistics, showing that one in three commuter trains on Valencia's Cercanías network arrived late at at least one stop along the route. A train is considered late if it deviates from the timetable by more than three minutes.
One in five trains arrived at the final station more than five minutes behind schedule. Cancelled or withdrawn trains are not counted in the figures at all.
Against this backdrop, Cercanías Valencia passengers regularly face delays, cancellations, and timetable disruption — complaints about the network's unreliability appear frequently on social media.
The total number of minutes lost came to 11,289 — equivalent to more than a week's worth of accumulated delays in a single month. According to Renfe, 91.5% of delays are attributable to external causes: infrastructure issues (the responsibility of operator Adif), weather conditions, or traffic management by other operators.
April's figures are not an isolated case but reflect a trend running since the start of 2026: high levels of delays were also recorded in January, February, and March. Across the four months combined, a total of 68,484 minutes of passenger time have been lost — equivalent to more than 47 full days.
