The Metrovalencia network is facing a new week of strikes. The drivers' union Semaf has officially announced five days of partial stoppages on Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV), which will affect all lines during peak hours.
This week, services will be disrupted on Tuesday 2 June and Thursday 4 June. The stoppages coincide with the university entrance exams (PAU) — a critical period when thousands of students depend on the rail network to reach their examination centres.
In addition to 2 and 4 June, strikes will also take place on 9, 11, and 16 June 2026. Services will be restricted during specific time slots: in the morning, from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM; in the afternoon, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM; and in the evening, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The partial stoppages will affect both Metrovalencia and the TRAM d'Alacant.
The dispute at Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana has been dragging on for several months. Strikes previously took place in March and April. The Semaf union accuses the company of "complete inaction" regarding the proposals put forward on workplace safety, and of systematically blocking negotiations on the collective agreement. The union's main demands concern the prevention of occupational risks, the recognition of professional categories, and the optimisation of traffic regulations.
