Couriers for the food delivery service Glovo are set to strike from 24 to 26 April amid an ongoing conflict with their employer. The industrial action was initiated by the Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) union, which alleges violations of labour rights following the completion of the courier hiring process in 2025.
A protest is scheduled for 15 April outside Glovo's headquarters in Madrid at Calle Eloy Gonzalo, 27. The strike itself will take place in several stages: on 24 April, couriers will stop working from 8:00 pm; on 25 April, there will be a total 24-hour work stoppage; and on 26 April, the strike will last from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
The union claims to have spent recent months negotiating with the company, but failed to reach an agreement on improving working conditions. CCOO asserts that the company has pushed couriers into a "critical" state.
Particular frustration stems from a workforce reduction plan announced by the company in March, which could affect around 750 employees across Spain. CCOO is demanding a complete withdrawal from this process.
Earlier, the union filed a lawsuit against Glovo in the National Court, alleging "hidden mass dismissals." According to their data, 30 people were dismissed within 90 days in a single Spanish province. CCOO argues that in such cases, the company is legally required to present a formal Collective Redundancy Procedure (ERE) and negotiate it with worker representatives.
"In some cases, Glovo cites excessively long average delivery wait times and so-called 'no-shows'," the union writes. CCOO maintains that such reasons are unsubstantiated.
