Sommelier Luis Baselga, who works at the two-Michelin-starred restaurant Smoked Room, shared his insights on which affordable wines are worth choosing. According to him, finding high-quality wine for under 10 euros is possible if you focus on reputable wineries.
The expert recommended Viña Zorzal from Navarre, calling the winery a "reliable option." The brand's lineup includes wines starting at approximately 7.80 euros, including their Garnacha.
"The grapes for this wine come from Corella, Cintruénigo, Fitero, and Lerga. Our goal is to convey the typical characteristics of the Garnacha variety from this region, which is historically and traditionally associated with it," the winery states in the product description.
Baselga noted that such wines can be an excellent choice for everyday enjoyment and are accessible to most consumers. At the same time, the winery's portfolio includes more premium selections that have received high marks from international critics. The most expensive wine in the entire Viña Zorzal catalogue is Punto de Fuga, priced at 69.95 euros.
Additionally, in the under-20 euro category, the sommelier specifically mentioned El Favorito de Baal, another Garnacha variety produced in Madrid.
