From 13 to 19 March, Valencia’s metro and trams will run 24 hours a day to make it easier for residents to get around the city during the main Fallas events.
Extra services are planned for the busiest moments of the festival — during the mascletàs and fireworks, and the flower offering to the Virgin Mary. To deliver this, Metrovalencia will use almost its entire metro and tram fleet.
It’s important to remember that Metrovalencia workers have announced strike action from 13 to 20 March, as well as on 24 and 26 March at certain times. For this reason, passengers are advised to check updates in advance on Metrovalencia’s official website.
In addition, to prevent overcrowding, Xàtiva and Colón stations will be closed to passengers from 12:30 to 14:30 from 14 to 19 March. Travellers are encouraged to use nearby alternative stations — Alameda, Plaça Espanya and Àngel Guimerà. During these days, the pedestrian corridor between Xàtiva and Alacant stations — which links metro lines 3, 5 and 9 with tram line 10 — will also be temporarily closed.
From 13 to 19 March, additional safety rules will apply in the metro:
— bicycles and e-scooters are not allowed;
— it is recommended to fold prams and pushchairs inside the station premises.
— transporting or using pyrotechnics is prohibited;
— smoking and the consumption of alcohol or drugs are prohibited;
— balloons are not permitted due to the risk of contact with overhead power lines.
The Metrobús network will also strengthen transport services. From 13 to 20 March, daytime bus frequency between Valencia and the surrounding towns will increase. From 16 March, additional night routes will be introduced for northern, north-western, western and southern areas.
