FC Barcelona have become Spanish champions for the 29th time in the club's history. In the 35th-round La Liga fixture at the Spotify Camp Nou, the Catalan side thrashed Real Madrid 2–0. Barcelona sealed the title with three rounds of the season to spare.
On the day of the match, 10 May, Barcelona head coach Hansi-Dieter Flick lost his father. The game began with a minute's silence, and the Barcelona players took to the pitch wearing black armbands.
The first goal was scored by Marcus Rashford, who curled a direct free-kick expertly into the far corner. The second came from an elegant combination: Dani Olmo flicked the ball on with his heel to Ferran Torres, who finished calmly to make it 2–0.
In the second half, Real raised their intensity but were still outplayed by the hosts in every aspect of the game. The visitors' best moment came when Jude Bellingham found space and beat goalkeeper Joan García one-on-one, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside. García also came to the rescue, getting to the ball ahead of Vinícius in another one-on-one situation, while Courtois saved a close-range effort from Ferran. Barcelona also spurned chances to extend their lead — Courtois and Asensio combined to deny Lewandowski, despite Fermín being completely free nearby.
Several flashpoints erupted during the match — most notably a confrontation involving Asencio, Dani Olmo, and Vinícius. Bellingham was shown a yellow card for returning to the pitch without the referee's permission after receiving medical treatment.
On 11 May, a title parade will take place in Barcelona. The procession sets off at 5:00 PM from the Spotify Camp Nou and will travel along Arístides Maillol, Travessera de les Corts, Numància, Berlín, Balmes, Pelai, Plaza de Catalunya, Passeig de Gràcia, Provença, Casanova, Londres, Avinguda de Sarrià, before returning to the stadium.
Traffic along the entire route will be suspended for the duration of the parade. Changes will affect more than thirty TMB bus routes, as well as the blue and red lines of the Barcelona Bus Turístic. City authorities are recommending that people walk or take the metro and avoid driving.
