The world-renowned Cirque du Soleil is coming to Valencia with its updated production, Alegría — Bajo Una Nueva Luz ("Joy — In a New Light"). Performances will run from 22 May to 28 June under the signature Big Top, which will be installed next to the old Grao station (Av. de l'Enginyer Manuel Soto, 11).
This is a reimagined version of one of the troupe's most famous shows. The original Alegría, which premiered in 1994, became an iconic production seen by over 14 million spectators worldwide. The new version, first presented in 2019, preserves the original storyline and atmosphere while offering completely updated scenography, acrobatics, and visual style.
At the heart of the story is a kingdom left without a ruler. Against this backdrop, a struggle unfolds between the old order and a new generation seeking change. Through its fantastical plot, the show touches on universal themes of power and hope.

The production features 54 artists from 18 countries—acrobats, musicians, singers, and clowns. Live musical accompaniment, complex stunts, and stunning visual effects create the large-scale spectacle synonymous with Cirque du Soleil. The Big Top accommodates approximately 2,500 spectators, reaches a height of 19 meters, and is supported by four steel masts. Inside, a complete theatrical world with a vibrant baroque aesthetic is brought to life.
A standout element of the show is the costume design. More than 120 costumes and over 600 wardrobe items were created for the production, all handmade in Montreal and tailored to each performer. Some pieces required up to 300 hours of labour to complete.
Standard ticket prices start at €49. Premium tickets are also available starting from €109, which include the opportunity to meet the performers after the show and take a photograph. Further details and ticket purchases can be found via this link.
