In the municipality of Polinyà del Xúquer in the province of Valencia, a dog prevented its owner from being kidnapped by biting one of the attackers. Guardia Civil officers arrested four suspects believed to be members of a criminal gang.
The incident took place on 30 October. The woman heard a noise at the front door. When she turned the handle, she was violently shoved. A man burst into the house, grabbed her by the arm and tried to force her outside, shouting, “Come with me.” At that moment, the woman’s dog lunged at the intruder and bit him on the leg, stopping the abduction.

Police reviewed CCTV footage and found out that four individuals had taken part in the attack. A local police officer, who heard the woman’s cries for help, helped identify the registration number of the car the attackers used to escape.
The vehicle turned out to have been rented by a resident of Algemesí. Officers later found it burnt out and without number plates. They arrested the first suspect, a 21-year-old from Algemesí, in November 2025. He faces accusations of involvement in a criminal group, attempted kidnapping, arson, document forgery and traffic offences.
In December, police arrested two more young men, aged 20 and 21, both Spanish nationals. They later arrested a fourth suspect, a 40-year-old Ukrainian national living in Valencia. Despite the time that had passed, bite marks from the dog were still visible on his leg, and the victim confidently identified him from a photograph.
Investigators are considering the theory that the three detainees from Algemesí knew the victim’s family had a high income and may have hired the fourth man to carry out the attack.
