Valencia will host the Russafa – Quatre Carreres Carnival this weekend. The events are taking place on 14 and 15 February. This year’s festival has the motto “For housing, health and education” and will take place across Central Park and the surrounding neighbourhoods of Malilla, Fuente de San Luis and Monteolivete.
The Russafa – Quatre Carreres Carnival brings together a wide range of cultural communities. Participants include African groups, for example, from Mali, and Latin American communities from Bolivia, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Honduras, Brazil and Ecuador.
The highlight of the weekend will be the carnival parade on 14 February. The procession will start at 4 pm from Parque de Malilla along Joaquín Benlloch and Peris y Valero, and will end at Central Park at around 10 pm. More than 70 groups will take part in the parade.
On 14 and 15 February, the Mercado Russafira will open in Central Park, showcasing handmade goods by local producers. The market will run from 12 pm to 11 pm.
On 15 February, Central Park will host live music performances and DJ sets from midday to evening. Several workshops will also take place during the day.
