Ruzafa has topped the list of Valencia's noisiest neighbourhoods. According to the municipal police, in 2025 the district generated 3,525 calls to the 092 hotline with noise complaints — around ten a day. The police data is reported by the outlet Las Provincias.
Only four districts have more complaints than Ruzafa. In second place is Cabanyal-Cañamelar, with 3,363 calls; in third, Ciudad Jardín (Algirós), with 3,215 complaints. Rounding out the top five are Benicalap and El Mercat, with nearly 3,000 and 2,300 cases, respectively.
In total, over the past year, police received more than 14,000 calls with complaints about noise, drinking alcohol in public places, or disturbances of public order at outdoor terraces. Of these, 1,551 complaints concerned drinking, around 12,000 concerned noise, and only 526 concerned terraces.
Ruzafa has already been declared an acoustic protection zone (ZAZ). This measure, approved in May of last year, involves suspending permits for the installation or expansion of establishments, licenses for background music in venues, and permits to build new terraces for restaurants and bars on municipal public land that would increase the space they occupy.
At the same time, a working group is being set up with the participation of the city administration, neighbourhood associations, consumer groups, and representatives of the restaurant and hospitality sector.
Valencia has 19 districts and even more neighbourhoods within them. Some are a stone's throw from the sea, others are tucked away with a view of orange trees.
