Valencia has approved the construction of a large mixed-use complex next to the new Nou Mestalla stadium.
The city council has issued the environmental and building licence that allows work to begin on two commercial towers in the area of Calle Bernardo España and Avenida de las Corts Valencianes. The project is being carried out by the Valencian company Atitlan, which bought the plot from the football club Valencia for around €35 million.
The total built area will be around 40,000 square metres. The complex will include several facilities: a shopping centre, a commercial centre, a 245-room hotel, and an aparthotel with 650 rooms. In total, it will be able to accommodate more than 1,700 guests at once.
Construction will take place in two stages and will take approximately three and a half years. According to preliminary plans, work will begin in the coming weeks, before the end of this month.
Valencia's new stadium is planned to be built by 2027. The Nou Mestalla will hold up to 70,000 spectators, including more than 6,500 VIP seats.
