Social media users are complaining about wide-leg trousers from the Spanish brand Zara. Under the hashtag #deadlyzarapants on TikTok, women from all over the world are posting videos demonstrating their falls and the injuries they received after getting tangled up in these "killer pants."
The items in question are loose-fitting summer trousers with an elastic waistband, retailing for €22.95 and available in six colors. Judging by the photos on Zara's website, these pants seem like the perfect staple for a summer wardrobe. In reality, many buyers complain that due to the length and width of the trouser legs, it is incredibly easy to step on them and take a tumble. This has resulted in scraped knees and palms, bruises, and in some cases, trips to the emergency room and stitches.
Italian influencer Sara Falcone also complained about the trousers. In a TikTok video, she shared how she fell, injuring her knees and arm. Dozens of similar stories quickly piled up in the comments section. "They should be sold with a helmet and knee pads," she joked, advising followers who have already bought the pants to walk with caution. Some commenters noted that the issue isn't just the length, but the combination of the wide cut and the slippery fabric.
The hashtag #zaratrousers has also gone viral in the US. Users are sharing clips of themselves faceplanting on camera and joking that these "killer pants" deserve their own Netflix documentary. Meanwhile, some viewers are questioning the authenticity of certain videos, suggesting that some details might be exaggerated for the sake of going viral.
Russian-speaking internet users discussed the infamous Zara trousers on Threads. "While reading this, I immediately thought of 'them'—the exact ones that almost flattened me on the asphalt a couple of times, nearly sent me flying down the stairs, and almost threw me under a car. I suspected they were catching on the buckle of my slippers, making me trip, but nope, turns out they really are killer pants 😅😂 But damn, I love them so much," one commenter wrote.
"I think @zara should recall all collections of these types of trousers and compensate everyone who was injured to one degree or another," another Threads user shared.
